CineHelm Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 August 2026

CineHelm respects your privacy. The app is designed to keep production data on your device and does not use advertising, cross-app tracking, or data brokerage.

This Privacy Policy explains what information CineHelm processes, when information may be sent to us, and the choices available to you.

1. Who we are

CineHelm is developed and operated by Monstrum (Pty) Ltd. (“CineHelm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

For privacy questions or requests, contact:

[PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]

2. Information stored on your device

CineHelm stores its working data locally on your iPad. This may include:

  • Projects and production metadata

  • Camera configurations and settings

  • Looks, LUTs and grading adjustments

  • Frame lines and lens information

  • Captured or imported images

  • Application preferences

  • Local activity and diagnostic logs

  • Project backups and exported packages

This information is not automatically uploaded to CineHelm or stored on our servers.

Local data remains on your device until you delete it, remove it through CineHelm or the Files app, or uninstall CineHelm. Some information may remain in device backups managed by Apple according to your iCloud or device-backup settings.

3. Photos, media and project files

Photos, captured frames, imported media and CineHelm project files are processed locally on your device.

CineHelm does not automatically upload your photos, videos, LUTs, looks, project packages or captured frames to us or to Sentry.

You control any files you export, save to your photo library, share through the system share sheet, or transfer through the Files app.

4. Local network and camera connections

CineHelm can connect directly to compatible ARRI cameras and related equipment over your local network.

Camera communication occurs between your iPad and the camera or device on the same network. CineHelm does not route camera control, monitoring data or captured media through our servers.

If you enable diagnostic sharing, activity breadcrumbs or a diagnostic report may contain camera-reported information, camera names, identifiers, command results or technical connection details.

5. Optional diagnostic sharing

CineHelm uses Sentry as an optional crash-reporting, performance-monitoring and diagnostic service.

Diagnostic sharing is off by default. Sentry is not started unless you enable Share diagnostics under Settings → Privacy & Diagnostics.

When diagnostic sharing is enabled, CineHelm may send the following information to Sentry:

  • Crash reports and stack traces

  • Application errors and warning details

  • Performance traces and profiling samples

  • Product-interaction breadcrumbs, such as which CineHelm workspace or function was used

  • App version, build number and release information

  • Operating-system version

  • Device model

  • A randomly generated session identifier

  • Technical connection or camera-command diagnostics

  • Project, look or camera names when they appear in an activity breadcrumb or error message

We disable Sentry’s default personal-information collection. We do not intentionally attach your name, email address, Apple ID, advertising identifier or precise location to diagnostic events.

As with any internet service, Sentry and its infrastructure providers may process network information such as an IP address as necessary to receive, secure and operate the service.

6. Diagnostic reports you choose to send

When diagnostic sharing is enabled, you may choose to send a diagnostic report from CineHelm’s Settings.

A diagnostic report can include:

  • An optional description written by you

  • Recent History & Logs entries

  • Raw Camera Access Protocol diagnostics

  • App version and build information

  • Operating-system version

  • Device model

  • A random session identifier

Information you enter into a report could identify you if you include personal details. Activity logs may also contain project, camera or look names you entered.

Diagnostic reports do not automatically include your photos, videos, captured frames, LUT files or project packages.

If your device is offline, a report may remain queued until an internet connection becomes available.

7. Why we process diagnostic information

We use optional diagnostic information only to:

  • Identify and fix crashes and software defects

  • Investigate reports submitted by testers or users

  • Improve reliability and performance

  • Diagnose camera-connection and compatibility problems

  • Provide technical support

We do not use diagnostic information for advertising, profiling for marketing, or tracking you across apps or websites.

Where consent is required, we rely on the choice you make through the Share diagnostics setting. You can withdraw that consent at any time by turning the setting off.

Disabling diagnostic sharing prevents CineHelm from collecting new Sentry diagnostics after the change takes effect. Information already transmitted or queued before you disabled sharing may still be processed under this policy.

8. Service provider

We use Sentry to receive and manage optional crash, performance and diagnostic information.

Sentry processes this information on our behalf as a service provider. Our Sentry project is configured to use Sentry’s European data region.

You can read Sentry’s privacy information at:

https://sentry.io/privacy/

We do not authorize Sentry to use CineHelm diagnostic information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not share CineHelm data with advertising networks or data brokers.

Diagnostic information is shared only with Sentry and infrastructure providers involved in securely operating the diagnostic service, or where disclosure is required by law.

10. Retention and deletion

Diagnostic information sent to Sentry is retained for up to 90 DAYS, after which it is deleted according to our Sentry retention settings.

We may retain limited information for longer when reasonably necessary to investigate an active support request, comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, or protect the security of CineHelm.

To request deletion of diagnostic information, contact marcel@monstrum.co.za. If available, include the diagnostic-report reference shown by CineHelm. Because CineHelm does not require an account and diagnostic events are not intentionally linked to your identity, we may be unable to locate a particular anonymous event without a report reference or other identifying information.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information sent through CineHelm. Diagnostic information is transmitted using encrypted network connections.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children’s privacy

CineHelm is a professional production utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a diagnostic report, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where possible.

13. International processing

Sentry and its infrastructure providers may process information in countries or regions outside your own. Where required, appropriate contractual and legal safeguards are used for international transfers.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information, including rights to access, correct or delete information, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

To exercise a privacy right, contact marcel@monstrum.co.za

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when CineHelm’s features, service providers or data practices change.

We will update the “Last updated” date when changes are published. Material changes may also be communicated within CineHelm or through the App Store.
